Lake D'Arbonne Reopened for Fishing Activities
Posted: 10/23/09

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has reopened Lake D'Arbonne to all fishing and boating activities and rescinded emergency “No Wake” restrictions, effective as of 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19.

The Union Parish water body had been closed to fishing and under a lake wide “No Wake” directive since Oct. 16.  Those restrictions were prompted by excessive rainfall that created floodwaters, which threatened surrounding homes and camps on Lake D'Arbonne.  The closure was an effort to prevent wakes caused by boat traffic from pushing water into structures on the lake shore.

High water levels have receded and normal fishing activities can resume on the lake. All fishing and boating regulations normally observed are once again in effect.
